The area of Arkitsa
Arkitsa is a beautiful coast town located in Fthiotida in the Mainland of Greece. The small town is a very traditional one with beautiful beaches and spectacular views of mountain scenery.
Arkitsa is the ideal place for vacation as it is only 140 km from Athens and at the same time close to some of Greece’s great monuments and site places.
Arkitsa is also the main port for departures and arrivals to the famous town of Edipsos on the island of Evia. Throughout the day, there are frequent ferry services to Edipsos from Arkitsa.
Travellers may also visit the famous battle field “Hotgates” (Thermopyles) where Leonidas fought the Persians with his 300 soldiers. The site is only 35km away from the town of Arkitsa and it is easy to reach by taxi, coach or car.
Delphi is one of the top destinations of Greek and Foreigner travellers. For the ancient Greek Delphi was the centre of the world and the holiest site in the world.This sacred destination is easily reached as it is an hour (80 km) away from Arkitsa.
Travellers may combine this excursion with a visit to Arachova which is only 10 minutes away. Arachova is a small town located high up on the slopes of Mountain Parnassos. Arachova is well known for its ski resort.
However, during Summer time travellers may enjoy a walk around its traditional shops, buy some good quality Greek products and taste some excellent Greek cuisine.
